Denver Choruses 2024-25 Season announced

Denver Gay Men's Chorus, Denver Women's Chorus, Rocky Mountain Arts Association News

It is with great honor, enthusiasm, and excitement that we announce our 2024-2025 season.

Beginning in November and continuing through next spring, both the Denver Women’s Chorus and Denver Gay Men’s Chorus have remarkable concerts planned that reverberate our key mission, which is to build community through music. We are steadfast in our belief of the transformative power of music to change and improve lives, and our high-quality choral performances will continue to educate ourselves and our audiences about LGBTQ history and the challenges that remain as we continue to strive for equality and full inclusion in society.

DGMC’s 43rd season is entitled A Mile in Our Shoes. Shoes, more than just a functional accessory, hold significant cultural and identifiable ties in our society. Throughout the LGBTQIA+ experience—especially in recent times—shoes have become a powerful symbol of self-expression and affirmation that reflect the diverse paths we tread. From North Pole Brigayde to Crazy 4 You, among others, each concert will take audiences on a mellifluous hike that explores the varied course we have trekked, where together, we will move to the rhythm of our soles.

As you know, it’s a high stakes election year, and DWC will kick off their 41st season with Do You Hear the People Sing, advocating for social justice, civic engagement, and collective protest. Continuing to promote social change through music, early next year, the chorus tackles the topic of invisible disabilities in Do Not Despair. DWC also welcomes Hannah Kimball as our new Associate Artistic Director and Artistic Director of Take Note! Hannah, the former Artistic Director for Phoenix Women’s Chorus, is literally moving as you read this to attend the University of Denver for her Master’s in Choral Conducting.

In February, we will also host Carnival Rendezvous, a Mardi Gras-inspired dance party fundraiser to support both our Choruses. Save the date for February 27 and an evening packed with music, dancing, live performances, and happiness. Will share more details soon!

Our Pride month and season finale, Leather and Lace, will see our first full co-chorus collaboration since 2019. We can’t wait to see DGMC and DWC on stage together!
