The Denver Women’s Chorus and Denver Gay Men’s Chorus are excited to announce auditions will be held for the upcoming 2021-22 season. It’s been two years since we’ve had the opportunity to invite individuals to join!
It’s a big year in so many ways! First, we’re rehearsing and performing in person! And while we miss the human touch and social connection of being together, we are very much following local, state and CDC guidelines. All individuals attending in-person auditions, rehearsals, or other RMAA organized and sanctioned events must be fully vaccinated against and will be required to show proof. The RMAA Covid Taskforce continually monitors guidelines and will provide recommendations regarding required social distancing. As of this time, masks are optional. Nobody experiencing symptoms will be permitted into the rehearsal space to avoid any potential exposure and health assessments may be requested.
Second, it’s the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus 40th Anniversary. DGMC has an incredible season planned to celebrate four decades of singing together in Denver and across the front range. DGMC firmly believes in the transformative power of music to change and improve lives. We select choral music that ignites our creative spirit and produce high-quality choral performances that appeal to diverse audiences. We look at each concert performance as an opportunity to educate ourselves and our audiences about LGBTQ history and the challenges that remain as we continue to strive for equality and full inclusion in society. DGMC auditions take place Tuesday, August 24 and Thursday, August 26. Read more about DGMC’s auditions and how to sign up here.
In addition, the Denver Women’s Chorus welcomes Dr. Cleylin Chaplin, our new Artistic Director. For the first time in over 19 years, Denver’s premier women’s chorus will be directed by a woman. DWC encourages individuals to join because you love to sing with a stellar ensemble, because you are looking for a place to meet new people and make new friends. Join because you believe in “Encouraging, Inspiring, and Supporting every singer on the journey toward musical excellence while building an inclusive community through music.” DWC auditions take place on August 12 and September 9. Since 1982, the Rocky Mountain Arts Association and its member choruses have maintained a passionate commitment to the lives and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ individuals and strive to be welcoming and respectful to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression. Come sing with us!
