THE DENVER GAY MEN’S CHORUS and OUT LOUD: COLORADO SPRINGS MEN’S CHORUS PRESENT:

HOME: Building Pride, Finding Family, featuring the Colorado Springs Premiere of Street Requiem

(COLORADO SPRINGS, CO) September 1, 2018 — The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and Out Loud: Colorado Springs Men’s Chorus is proud to present HOME: Building Pride, Finding Family, on September 29th, 2018 at 7:30 pm at First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, CO.  Under the direction of Artistic and Managing Director James Knapp, DGMC and Out Loud will explore themes of pride, family, community and empowerment, and the many ways in which we define and find our “home”.  The concert also features the Colorado Springs premiere of Street Requiem, a stunning new choral work addressing the growing challenges of homelessness and house insecurity in our city and across the globe.

The concert’s first half will spotlight the Out Loud performing inspirational anthems, including works by Randall Stroope and Victor Johnson, with additional selections from “Wicked” and “Kinky Boots”.

In the concert’s second half, DGMC alongside Sopranos and Altos from 12 other Colorado Choruses will perform the Street Requiem.  Created by Australian composers Kathleen McGuire, Jonathon Welch and Andy Payne, this moving 40-minute piece for mass choir and soloists, pays homage to those who live and struggle on the streets.  A portion of the proceeds from this very special concert will support four local nonprofit agencies that address the challenges of homelessness and housing insecurity in our community.

First United Methodist Church is located at 420 Nevada Ave. in Colorado Springs, CO, 80903.

For more details and tickets to the performance, visit DGMC.org or call the chorus office at (303) 325-3939.
