From The Temptations to Lizzo, DGMC celebrates a half-century of iconic African American pop music that has its roots in the distinctive sounds of the Motor City and now permeates every genre of popular music today. In addition, Motown and More will feature the Colorado premiere of “The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed,” by Joel Thompson. The last words of seven unarmed black men – including Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner-  each killed by police or authority figures, inspired the lyrics for this piece.  Aurora’s Rangeview High School Choir will join DGMC for this powerful multi-movement choral piece.
